Single review by KevW

It's only been a few months since Philadelphia's Matt Coogan and friends released their debut album as One Era, but they're already well on the way to finishing the follow-up to 'We Repeat'. New single 'Where's The Good Time?' is the first single to be taken from the as-yet-untitled second effort and by the sounds of things we could be in for more classy party tunes with their sights set on getting your feet moving. Much of the debut was a more dancey update of 80s synth-pop and, as its title suggests, this tune is no different, taking those same retro stylings, sanding them down and repainting them in a modern design.

As well as the whole synth/dance thing you can also pick out a few new-wave/post-punk influences creeping in here. 'Where's The Good Time?' could easily be a Talking Heads remix, possibly done by Hot Chip. For some reason, and it may just be me, M's 'Pop Muzik' springs to mind, although the similarity is subtle. What One Era has done here is delivered us a good time tune to help us banish the same tired old songs that are currently being played at a Christmas party somewhere in the world as we speak. So we should be thankful to him for that and hope for more of the same to follow.
